We are looking for motivated and passionate students to work alongside our talented OP staff. We are currently looking for students with experience in outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, paddling, and climbing. Outdoor Pursuits is Wake Forest Campus Recreation’s outdoor adventure program! We are dedicated to helping the Wake Forest community get outside and enjoy the wilderness.
Outdoor Pursuits offers everything from weekend trips to an on-campus climbing facility. Everyone is welcome, no experience is necessary! We hope see you on our next adventure! Come visit us in Reynolds Gym 213.
Outdoor Pursuits programs a wide variety of trips in a vast array of locations. We offer day hiking, rock climbing, back packing, whitewater kayaking, and more. If skydiving is on your bucket list, we can help you out with that too! Past trip locations include North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, the Grand Canyon, Italy, Spain, Greece, Corsica, and New Zealand. The CRUX Bouldering Gym
The CRUX is Campus Rec’s very own climbing facility, located in the Six on the 3rd floor of Reynolds Gym. As always, no experience is necessary. An OP staff member will always be in the gym ready to answer any questions and to show you the ropes. Climbing in the CRUX and climbing shoe rentals are free for Wake Forest students, Faculty, and Staff. A valid WFU ID is required to climb in the CRUX. CRUX hours will be updated regularly on our Hours of Operation page.
Want to plan your own trip? No problem! OP has rental gear available at daily, weekend, or weekly rates. Gear rental prices and policies are posted on our Gear Rentals page. Stop by the OP office in Reynolds Gym 213 Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email Lee Collette () with questions or reservation requests.
Kayak School will be taking a short hiatus during the fall semester! Keep an eye out for updates on this fantastic program and look for its’ return in the Spring 2015 semester.
Become a Class III whitewater kayaker in a matter of weeks. Yeah, we’re serious. We will start at the basics and end having you punching through Hell Hole on the Ocoee River. Kayak school includes 2 to 4 pool sessions and two weekend trips with lots of paddling. No experience required to fall in love with the world’s most beautiful sport. Participants are highly encouraged to enjoy Mexican food.
